Hussey, Gay, Bell & DeYoung is providing survey and design to Beaufort County, South Carolina for improvements to U.S. Highway 278.  The project begins at the entrance to Hilton Head Factory #2 Outlet and ends at Simmonsville Road approximately 3.5 miles to the west.  The firm’s responsibilities include conceptual layout, surveying, database preparation, preliminary plans, right-of-way plans and final construction plans.  The project will widen the existing four-lane road to a six-lane road with turn lanes and acceleration and deceleration lanes.  Permitting and coordination with the South Carolina Department of Transportation are also being provided.
